Debra began her vocal training in Aberdeen when she was a teenager.

a teaching diploma whilst still at school.

On leaving the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow with a BA in Musical Performance and a diploma in Operatic Studies, Debra was invited to sing with the Ambrosian Opera Chorus in London. Much of her work with them involved recording the great works with leading conductors and orchestras of the day, including many appearances on Friday Night is Music Night on Radio Two with the Ambrosian Singers as well as the Nigel Brooks Singers and the

John McCarthy singers and with the Maida Vale singers.

Debra appeared as guest artist in a  series of concerts with the late Patrick Moore, astronomer, singing many of Mr. Moore's own compositions.

Extensive work abroad has included Oratorio, Operas and Concerts throughout Europe and in Japan, Israel, Russia and Mexico.

She was featured soloist on the first CD for Coro Cervantes, O Crux, which was voted Gramophone's Critics' Choice of the Year. For their 10th anniversary in June 2006 the choir celebrated by giving a concert at the Wigmore Hall in which Debra appeared as soloist at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
