Debra began her vocal training in Aberdeen when she was a teenager.

Her love of music also included playing the clarinet in which she gained

a teaching diploma whilst still at school.

On leaving the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow with a BA in Musical Performance and a diploma in Operatic Studies, Debra was invited to sing with the Ambrosian Opera Chorus in London. Much of her work with them involved recording the great works with leading conductors and orchestras of the day, including many appearances on Friday Night is Music Night on Radio Two with the Ambrosian Singers as well as the Nigel Brooks Singers and the

John McCarthy singers and with the Maida Vale singers.

Debra appeared as guest artist in a  series of concerts with the late Patrick Moore, astronomer, singing many of Mr. Moore's own compositions.

Extensive work abroad has included Oratorio, Operas and Concerts throughout Europe and in Japan, Israel, Russia and Mexico.

She was featured soloist on the first CD for Coro Cervantes, O Crux, which was voted Gramophone's Critics' Choice of the Year. For their 10th anniversary in June 2006 the choir celebrated by giving a concert at the Wigmore Hall in which Debra appeared as soloist at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

As a session singer, Debra has recorded vocals for film soundtracks, CD library music, launch music for car companies, an Ice Show for  Alton towers

and radio jingles.

She was featured soloist during the opening and closing ceremonies for the Commonwealth Games in Manchester with music especially written

by Julian Scott for the occasion.

She also recorded the vocals for the Beijing Olympic Torch  Ceremony in London.

Debra also finds the time to teach a select group of students  from her studio near Lewes. She has undertaken adjudications for the International Singing Competition of Trujillo, Peru and for Songbirds, an X-Factor style live show in Bucks.

More recently she has discovered the delights of the ukulele and uses it in her Music for the Brain sessions with those living with dementia and Parkinson's and runs 2 Parkinson's specific choirs as well as a general wellbeing choir all in East Sussex.
